Find bike cleaners for removing mud, road grime and everyday dirt. Choose products suited to your bike’s finish and components, then follow the recommended dilution, contact time and rinsing instructions for a careful clean.
Make regular cleaning easier
A suitable cleaner helps soften dirt before you lift it away with a soft brush or wash mitt. Regular cleaning also gives you a chance to inspect the frame and components for wear or damage. Keep oily drivetrain brushes and cloths separate from those used around braking surfaces.
What to look for in bike cleaners
- Surface compatibility: Check suitability for your paint, carbon, metal, seals and other materials. Use specialist cleaning products only where their instructions permit.
- Format and preparation: Compare ready-to-use products with concentrates or refills. Check mixing instructions and avoid letting cleaner dry onto the bike.
- The area you are cleaning: A general bike wash is not automatically a drivetrain degreaser or brake cleaner. Match the product and method to the component.
Work on cool surfaces out of strong direct sun, soften dried dirt and use gentle water or damp cloths as appropriate. On an e-bike, follow its maker’s precautions for electrical parts and battery handling; avoid pressure washing. Add suitable cleaning brushes and restore any required drivetrain lubrication with the right lubricant once clean and dry.
