Specialized Levo Evo

Longer-travel electric mountain bikes built for steeper, rougher and more technical trails

The Specialized Levo Evo is a full-power electric mountain bike built for riders who want more travel, more stability and more confidence when the trail gets steeper, rougher or more demanding.

Based on the latest Levo platform but paired with an Evo-specific shock linkage for 170mm of rear travel and a 180mm fork, it keeps the smooth, natural feel of the Specialized 3.1 motor and 840Wh battery while leaning harder into technical, aggressive riding. The range includes the Pro, Comp and Comp Alloy, covering a premium top-end build, a carbon mid-range option and a more accessible alloy entry point.

Meet the Specialized Levo Evo

The Levo Evo takes the most popular full-power eMTB platform around and gives it a tougher, more gravity-focused edge. It is still a bike you can pedal all day, but the extra travel and more planted feel make it a better fit for riders who spend more time on steep descents, rougher natural tracks, bike park laps and bigger trail centre terrain.

  • 170mm rear travel gives the Evo more control and composure than the standard Levo when trails get rough.
  • 180mm fork adds front-end confidence for steeper lines, harder braking and bigger impacts.
  • Specialized 3.1 motor delivers strong support in a way that still feels smooth and easy to manage.
  • 840Wh battery gives you big-ride range, with a 600Wh option available separately if you want to lighten things up, plus an optional 280Wh range extender for even bigger days.

A closer look at the Specialized Levo Evo — how the longer-travel Levo platform is set up for steeper, more technical riding.

More travel, more confidence

The Levo Evo pushes beyond standard trail-bike territory, with 170mm rear travel and a 180mm fork that help it stay composed when the trail gets faster, rougher or steeper.

Specialized Levo Evo motor and battery integration detail

The latest Levo drive system

Every model uses the Specialized 3.1 motor and 840Wh battery, giving the Evo the same strong, natural-feeling support that makes the new Levo platform such a big step forward.

Built around real ride needs

Adjustable geometry, mixed wheels and SWAT downtube storage all add up to a bike that feels thought through on the trail, not just impressive on a spec sheet.

Key features across the Levo Evo range

Every Levo Evo shares the same core idea: long-travel confidence backed up by one of the best full-power eMTB systems available. The differences between models are mainly in frame material and how far the suspension and component spec are pushed.

Specialized 3.1 motor

The Levo Evo uses the latest Specialized 3.1 motor, delivering up to 105Nm of torque and 820W peak power. It gives strong, consistent support for steep climbs and longer rides, while maintaining a smoother, more natural feel that’s easier to manage on technical terrain than many full-power eMTBs.

840Wh battery platform

A big 840Wh battery means strong range for long rides, uplift-free bike park days or repeated steep climbs. A 600Wh battery is also available separately if you want to save some weight, while an optional 280Wh range extender gives you extra capacity for bigger days out.

170mm rear / 180mm front travel chassis

The Evo-specific linkage increases rear travel to 170mm, adding control and forgiveness when the terrain gets rougher, while the 180mm fork helps keep the front end planted and confident on steeper, more technical trails.

Mixed wheel setup

A 29in front wheel helps with grip and rollover, while the 27.5in rear keeps the bike nimble and easier to place on tighter or steeper trails.

Adjustable geometry and SWAT storage

The Levo Evo is built to be tuned to suit your riding, with multiple adjustment points including head angle, chainstay length and bottom bracket height to fine-tune handling for different terrain and riding styles. The downtube SWAT storage adds genuinely useful space for tools and ride essentials.

Why choose the Levo Evo?

The standard Levo is already a hugely capable trail eMTB, but the Evo version is aimed more clearly at riders who want to push harder downhill and ride tougher terrain more often. The extra travel and more planted setup make it a better fit for steeper, rougher terrain, bigger features and more demanding descents.

If your riding leans more enduro than all-round trail, the Levo Evo is likely to make more sense than the standard bike. For a broader look at where it fits, take a look at our eMTB guide.

Big power, big battery, properly usable

What matters most here is not just that the Levo Evo is powerful, but that the support is easy to use. The Specialized 3.1 motor gives you plenty of assistance for steep climbs and longer rides, but it does it in a way that feels more controlled and more predictable than the blunt, over-eager feel some full-power bikes can have.

The 840Wh battery also suits the Evo’s intended use really well. This is a bike for riders who may want to session more descents, head deeper into the hills or just remove a bit of range anxiety from a big day out. And if you want a lighter setup for shorter rides, the separately available 600Wh battery gives you another option.

Specialized Levo Evo side profile

Set up for aggressive riding

Geometry and fit are a big part of what makes the Levo Evo appealing. In its standard setting, it runs a 63.6-degree head angle alongside long reach figures, helping the bike feel stable at speed without becoming awkward on slower, tighter trails. With adjustable geometry, you can fine-tune that balance to suit your terrain and riding style.

Specialized’s S-sizing approach gives riders a bit more freedom to choose the fit and handling feel they want, and the adjustable geometry means there is room to fine-tune the bike around your trails, riding style and priorities.

What changes as you move up the range

All three Levo Evo models share the same overall concept: the same motor platform, the same 840Wh battery setup and the same long-travel geometry. The main differences are in frame material, suspension level and how premium the finishing kit gets as you move up the range.

ModelWhat to expect
Levo Comp Evo AlloyThe most accessible way into the range, with an alloy frame and a practical build that still gives you the same Levo Evo ride feel. A strong option if the chassis and motor matter most and you are happy to keep the finishing kit sensible.
Levo Comp EvoA carbon-frame step up with a cleaner overall spec and wireless GX AXS shifting. This is likely to be the sweet spot for many riders who want the lighter frame and stronger overall build without jumping all the way to top-end pricing.
Levo Pro EvoThe premium model in the launch range, with higher-end suspension, upgraded drivetrain and carbon wheelset. Best suited to riders who want the full Levo Evo experience straight out of the box with minimal compromise.

What is the difference between the Levo and Levo Evo?

The Levo Evo is the longer-travel, more aggressive version of the platform. It keeps the same latest-generation motor and battery system, but adds 170mm rear travel, a 180mm fork and a more gravity-focused setup for steeper, rougher riding.

How much travel does the Specialized Levo Evo have?

The Levo Evo has 170mm of rear travel and comes with a 180mm fork across the range, giving it a more capable, more forgiving feel on demanding trails.

Is the Levo Evo a good choice for everyday trail riding?

It can be, but it makes the most sense if your riding regularly includes steeper, rougher or more technical terrain. If you want a more all-round trail-bike feel, the standard Levo may suit you better. If you want extra confidence and descending ability, the Evo is the more natural fit.
