Orbea Rise Electric Mountain Bikes | SL & LT Models

Riding the Orbea Rise electric mountain bike on a rock slab in the big mountains

More Bike. Less E.

Lightweight electric mountain bikes built for flow, balance and real trail feel on modern trail terrain.

The Orbea Rise is a lightweight electric mountain bike built around a simple idea: electric assistance should support your riding, not take it over. If you enjoy the feel of a trail bike but want a bit of help on longer climbs, technical sections or bigger days out, that’s exactly where the Orbea Rise fits.

By combining a lighter chassis with RS-tuned Shimano power, Rise delivers assistance that feels consistent and predictable on the trail. It climbs efficiently, descends with stability, and keeps much of the character you’d expect from a non-assisted trail bike.

Available in SL and LT platforms, and in both carbon and alloy frames, the Orbea Rise gives you options in travel, weight and battery capacity. Whether you’re riding local loops, building confidence on new trails or heading out for longer mountain days, the focus stays on balanced handling rather than outright power.

RS Tuned Assistance

Orbea’s RS firmware combines full torque with a moderated power curve. In practice, that means the support builds with your effort — helpful on steeper or slower climbs, but controlled enough that the bike still feels like yours at higher cadences.

Built for Big Days

Rise is available with 420Wh or 630Wh internal batteries, and is compatible with a 210Wh range extender. If you prefer a lighter overall feel, the smaller battery makes sense. If longer rides are your thing, the larger option gives extra peace of mind.

Light & Agile by Design

Rise is designed to feel closer to a traditional trail bike than many full-power eMTBs. Lower system weight, size-specific stiffness and balanced geometry all contribute to handling that feels direct and predictable across varied terrain.

Key features across the Rise range

From SL to LT, Rise models share the same core approach: balanced trail handling, RS-tuned assistance, and practical battery options that let you choose between lower weight or more range.

Shimano EP8 RS Motor System

The Orbea Rise is powered by Shimano EP8 RS drive units, delivering up to 85Nm of torque in a custom-tuned format. The emphasis isn’t raw numbers — it’s smooth, usable support that responds naturally to rider input.

RS & RS+ Ride Modes

Two primary assistance profiles let you tailor the ride. RS mode focuses on efficiency and range, while RS+ gives you access to full torque for tougher climbs. You can also fine-tune both modes in Shimano’s E-Tube app if you like to personalise your setup.

Carbon or Hydro Alloy Frames

Rise is available in advanced carbon or high-performance hydroformed alloy. Both share the same design philosophy, geometry and integration — so you can choose your material without changing the character of the bike.

Size-Tuned Stiffness

Each frame size is tuned for consistent ride feel across the range. The goal is a bike that feels responsive and controlled, without becoming harsh on rougher trails.

Steep ‘n’ Deep Dropper Compatibility

Rise is designed around long-travel droppers, helping you get the saddle lower on steep or technical sections and stay more stable when the trail gets rough.

Integrated RS Control System

Select models feature Orbea’s RS Control System, combining motor controls, ride information and smart dropper functionality into one intuitive interface — all powered from the main battery for clean integration and simplified charging.

Why choose the Orbea Rise?

Many full-power eMTBs prioritise maximum output and large batteries. Rise takes a more measured approach, pairing full torque with tuned delivery and smaller battery options.

For many riders, the real benefit is being able to choose between maximising range or unlocking full power. RS mode helps stretch battery life for longer rides and steady efforts, while RS+ gives you full torque when the terrain gets steeper or more demanding. It’s a simple way to adapt the bike to the ride you’ve got planned.

A lightweight eMTB that still feels like your bike

Rise is designed as a complete system. Suspension layout, geometry, frame stiffness and motor tuning are developed together rather than in isolation.

Whichever version you choose — SL or LT — the emphasis is on consistent handling and manageable power delivery across a wide range of trail conditions, so you can focus more on the ride and less on the tech.

Orbea Rise SL vs Orbea Rise LT: which one makes sense for your trails?

Both share the same Rise approach — lighter feel and RS-tuned support — but they suit different riding. Here’s a simple way to decide.

When to choose Rise SL

The Orbea Rise SL is the lighter, shorter travel version of the Rise platform. With 140mm of travel front and rear and fast trail geometry, it’s aimed at riders who prioritise flow, efficiency and covering ground.

If your riding leans towards flowing singletrack, big loops and all day adventures, the Rise SL keeps things light and composed while still offering full RS tuned support.

When to choose Rise LT

The Orbea Rise LT takes the same lightweight philosophy and adds more suspension and more aggressive geometry. With 150mm rear travel and a 160mm fork, it’s built for steeper, rougher and more technical terrain.

If you ride more demanding terrain or prefer extra margin on technical trails, the Rise LT offers that additional capability while keeping the same balanced RS motor system.

What changes as you move up the range

All Orbea Rise electric mountain bike models share the same core layout, geometry and RS-tuned motor system. As you move up the range, the changes are mainly in frame material, suspension quality, weight and finishing kit.

ModelWhat to expect
H30The most accessible entry point into the Rise range. Alloy frame with solid, dependable components and RS-tuned assistance — ideal if you want the Rise platform without stretching to higher-end kit.
H20A step up in braking and drivetrain performance, with improved suspension control. Better suited to riders spending more time on technical terrain or riding more regularly.
H10Further upgrades to suspension and drivetrain bring more adjustment and consistency on longer, rougher rides. A noticeable step in overall refinement without moving to carbon.
M20The first carbon-framed Rise in the range. Lower overall weight and a slightly sharper feel under power, paired with stronger trail components.
M10Builds on the carbon frame with higher-spec suspension, lighter wheels and improved braking performance — a strong balance for riders who prioritise control on faster descents.
M-TeamHigher-end suspension and lighter components throughout. A performance-focused build for riders who want the most out of the Rise chassis without unnecessary extras.
M-LtdTop-tier build with premium suspension and lightweight finishing kit. Focused on reducing weight and maximising responsiveness, while keeping the same core Rise ride characteristics.

Rise FAQs

Quick answers to common Orbea Rise questions. For a broader explainer, see our electric mountain bike guide.

What is the difference between Orbea Rise SL and Orbea Rise LT?

Rise SL uses 140mm travel front and rear with fast trail geometry, prioritising flow, efficiency and lower weight. Rise LT increases travel to 150mm rear and 160mm front with more aggressive geometry for steeper, rougher terrain.

How much torque does the Orbea Rise produce?

The Orbea Rise uses Shimano EP RS drive units delivering up to 85Nm of torque, tuned through Orbea’s RS firmware for smooth, natural power delivery.

Can I customise the assistance modes?

Yes. Rise gives you two main modes to work with. RS mode is geared towards efficiency and extending range, making it a good choice for longer rides or steady efforts. RS+ unlocks full torque for steeper or more demanding terrain when you want maximum support. You can also fine-tune both modes using Shimano’s E-Tube app, so the balance between power and battery use suits the way you ride.

What battery options are available on the Orbea Rise?

Orbea Rise models are available with 420Wh or 630Wh internal batteries, and are compatible with an optional 210Wh range extender for extended rides.

Is the Orbea Rise a lightweight eMTB?

Yes. The Orbea Rise is designed around a lightweight electric mountain bike philosophy, combining tuned assistance, smaller battery options and optimised frame construction to deliver a more agile ride feel than many full-power eMTBs.

Can I fit a long travel dropper post?

Yes. Rise is designed around long insertion depths and supports extended dropper travel across most sizes, helping you maximise control on steep terrain.
