Giant hardtail eMTB FAQs
A few useful answers before you choose. If you'd rather talk it through, our team will be happy to help.
What's the difference between the Talon E+ and Fathom E+?
The Talon E+ is lighter and well suited to accessible trails, leisure rides and commuting. The Fathom E+ has a more powerful motor, a larger battery, 130mm fork and dropper post, making it better suited to steeper climbs, longer rides and rougher terrain.
What does EX mean on a Giant electric bike?
EX models are equipped for practical, all-weather riding. Both bikes listed here include integrated lights, mudguards, a kickstand and a Giant Rack-It MIK rear carrier.
How far can I ride on one charge?
Range changes with assistance level, climbing, surface, temperature, tyre pressure and the combined weight of rider and luggage. Giant estimates 57km in extreme conditions, 88km in good conditions and up to 115km in ideal conditions for the Talon's 430Wh system. The Fathom's 750Wh battery offers more capacity, but your real-world distance will still depend on how and where you ride.
Can I remove the battery for charging?
The Talon E+ range uses a removable 430Wh EnergyPak, so it can be charged away from the bike. Ask us about the charging and battery-removal arrangement on the exact Fathom E+ build you're considering.
Can I add a range extender?
The Talon E+ models are compatible with Giant's 200Wh EnergyPak Plus range extender. Giant also lists an EnergyPak Plus option for selected compatible bikes, so check with us before ordering one for a Fathom E+.
Which size should I choose?
Talon E+ models are offered in S to XL, the Fathom E+ in S to XL, and the Fathom E+ EX adds XXL. Height charts are a useful starting point, but proportions and riding style matter too. Contact us if you'd like help choosing.
