Orbea Oiz Cross-Country Mountain Bikes

Make every climb count

Orbea Oiz: cross-country speed, with control for the way back down.

The Orbea Oiz is a full-suspension cross-country mountain bike built for cross-country racing, marathon events and fast rides where the climbs matter as much as the descents. Its 120mm of suspension travel front and rear helps absorb roots, rocks and rough ground, while the suspension layout is designed to limit unwanted movement as you pedal.

The 2027 range spans Hydro aluminium, OMR carbon and lighter OMX carbon frames. The latest carbon Oiz brings revised geometry and frame construction, while each build offers a different balance of suspension, wheels and equipment. Here’s how to choose the one that suits your riding.

Speed you can use on the trail

Oiz is for riders who enjoy working for their speed. Whether you’re chasing a race result or a quicker local loop, the aim is the same: pedal efficiently, hold your line and arrive at the next climb ready to go.

  • 120mm suspension: travel front and rear for demanding XC terrain.
  • Three frame levels: choose Hydro aluminium, OMR carbon or OMX carbon.
  • Dropper-equipped builds: lower the saddle for more room to move on descents.
  • A choice of controls: manual suspension remotes or Flight Attendant on selected builds.

A closer look at the Oiz and the details that shape its ride.

Stay composed at race pace

The new carbon frame targets stiffness around the main pivot, linkage and lower frame. The aim is to keep the rear end tracking accurately when you’re pedalling hard or loading the bike through a corner.

Support when you push

The new Oiz’s suspension gives more support early in its travel to limit bobbing, then becomes more sensitive deeper into the stroke. That helps balance pedalling efficiency with grip on rough climbs.

A position for steep climbs

The new carbon frame places you further forward when seated to help keep the front wheel planted on steep climbs. A short rear end keeps handling nimble, while a slightly more relaxed fork angle adds composure on descents.

Key features across the Oiz range

All standard UK 2027 builds have 120mm travel front and rear and a dropper post. Selected carbon models also support a 130mm fork, available through a custom order, while rear travel stays at 120mm. We can help you explore that option. Frame construction, suspension controls and finishing kit vary across the range.

Hydro, OMR or OMX: choose your starting point

Hydro uses an aluminium frame for a more accessible route into full-suspension XC riding. OMR and OMX share the new carbon frame layout, with OMX putting greater emphasis on low weight. Compared with Hydro, the carbon bikes have a shorter rear end for a more nimble feel, a more forward seated position to help keep the front wheel planted on steep climbs, and a slightly more relaxed fork angle for composure on descents.

Suspension with a choice of control

Handlebar remotes let you firm up the suspension for smoother climbs and open it for grip and bump absorption on rough ground, without reaching down to the fork or shock. On equipped models, Squidlock puts suspension settings and dropper control together within easy reach, so you can also lower the saddle for descents. The H30 uses separate suspension and dropper remotes. The M10 AXS has RockShox Flight Attendant, which adjusts the suspension automatically as you ride, leaving you to concentrate on the trail.

A dropper for the technical sections

Every build in the 2027 range includes a dropper post. Lowering the saddle gives you more space to move as the trail steepens, then you can return it to pedalling height for the next climb. The post and available travel depend on the build and fit.

Practical details on the new carbon frame

Two bottle-cage mounts across all carbon frame sizes help with longer rides and marathon races. There’s also provision for an eight-piece multitool beneath the top tube. It’s included on the standard OMX builds and available as an optional extra when ordering an OMR model.

Serviceable hardware for regular riding

A threaded bottom bracket is specified across the range. The new carbon platform also uses improved pivot sealing and a revised main pivot to help keep suspension movement smooth. These details support a bike that will see plenty of training miles as well as race days.

Is the Orbea Oiz right for you?

Choose the Oiz if you enjoy linking climbs, covering ground and finding speed on technical cross-country trails. Its race focus makes sense for short-course XC, longer marathon events and ambitious rides where efficient pedalling pays off throughout the day.

You don’t need a race number to enjoy it, but your priorities matter. If most of your riding centres on steep, rough descents and bigger impacts, a longer-travel trail bike such as the Orbea Occam may suit you better. The Oiz puts climbing speed and responsive handling at the heart of the ride.

Choose the equipment you’ll notice most

Start with fit and the terrain you ride, then compare suspension and wheels. The M20 brings FOX Factory suspension to the OMR frame; the M10 adds Shimano XT electronic shifting, Oquo MP30TEAM wheels and an integrated carbon cockpit. The M10 AXS takes a different route with Flight Attendant suspension and SRAM AXS shifting.

Moving to M-Pro or above brings the lighter OMX frame. That’s worth considering if racing and weight are high on your list. Within OMX, M-Pro and M-Team Factory use Shimano shifting, while M-Team AXS and M-LTD use SRAM. All four standard builds use FOX Factory suspension; the M10 AXS is the standard UK build with RockShox Flight Attendant.

Oiz FAQs

A few useful answers before you choose your Oiz.

Is the Orbea Oiz a cross-country or trail bike?

The Orbea Oiz is a full-suspension cross-country bike, designed for XC racing, marathon events and fast rides with plenty of climbing. Its 120mm suspension helps on technical terrain, but the overall focus remains pedalling efficiency and speed. Riders who prioritise rough descents and bigger impacts may prefer a longer-travel trail bike.

What is the difference between Oiz Hydro, OMR and OMX?

Hydro is Orbea’s aluminium Oiz frame, used for the H models. OMR is the carbon frame used from M30 to M10 AXS in the 2027 range. OMX is the lighter carbon level used from M-Pro upwards. The carbon bikes also have a shorter rear end, a more forward climbing position and a slightly more relaxed fork angle than Hydro, balancing nimble handling with control on climbs and descents.

How much suspension travel does the Orbea Oiz have?

All the standard UK builds in the 2027 Orbea Oiz range have 120mm suspension travel at the front and rear. Selected carbon models can also be ordered with a 130mm fork while retaining 120mm rear travel. Speak to our team about a custom build; the range table shows the standard UK specifications.

Which Orbea Oiz has Flight Attendant suspension?

The 2027 Orbea Oiz M10 AXS has a RockShox SID Ultimate fork and SIDLuxe Ultimate shock with Flight Attendant as standard. This RockShox system automatically adjusts the suspension as you ride. The standard M-Team AXS and M-LTD builds use FOX Factory suspension without Flight Attendant. AXS describes the SRAM electronic shifting, not the suspension system.

What size Orbea Oiz should I choose?

Orbea’s 2027 starting guide suggests S for 155–170cm, M for 165–180cm, L for 178–190cm and XL for 185–198cm. These ranges overlap because height alone doesn’t determine fit. Your proportions, preferred riding position and dropper clearance matter too. If you’re between sizes, speak to our team before choosing.

Can the Orbea Oiz carry two bottles and a multitool?

The new carbon Oiz has two bottle-cage mounts in every frame size and a dedicated mounting position for an eight-piece multitool beneath the top tube. The tool is included on the standard OMX builds and available as an optional extra when ordering an OMR model. Check bottle clearance with your chosen cages and bottles.
