Sold Secure Bronze bike locks provide tested protection against opportunist theft. They are generally lighter and more affordable than higher-rated locks, making them suitable for lower-value bikes, brief stops in lower-risk locations and additional security for wheels or accessories.
Why Choose a Sold Secure Bronze Bike Lock?
Bronze is the entry level in the Sold Secure bicycle rating system. It offers a useful deterrent when portability, convenience and price are priorities, but it is not intended to provide the same resistance as Silver, Gold or Diamond. For a valuable bike, a longer unattended period or regular city parking, choose a higher rating or use Bronze only as supplementary protection.
What to Look for in a Bronze Bike Lock
- Appropriate use: Match the lock to a lower-risk location, a shorter stop and the value of the bike being secured.
- Lock type: Bronze-rated cable, chain and folding designs can prioritise low weight, flexibility or compact carrying.
- Reach and fit: Check that the lock can secure the frame to an immovable object rather than locking only a wheel.
- Secondary protection: Use a lightweight Bronze lock to secure a second wheel or accessory alongside a stronger primary lock where appropriate.
Check any insurance conditions before relying on a Bronze lock, as a higher rating may be required. Compare the full rating system and find the right setup in our Bike Lock Buyer's Guide.
