Why? It’s a powerful question that often leads to some of the most insightful stories that have shaped our human history and it’s the question we asked local riders here in South Wales. Since autumn last year we’ve been meeting bikers on the trails and pump tracks and asking them the simple question of why. This first series of Rise With Us seeks to unpack why rising to ride brings joy to people’s lives; it’s a personal yet inspiring decision to simply put foot to pedal and get outside. So, join us for a whistle stop tour of some inspiring stories of risers from across the South Wales corridor.
Scott Pullins

Scott Pullins is a keen mountain biker and tattoo artist from Swansea. We’ve been tracking with Scott for quite some time now as he’s been riding his local trails around South Wales since he entered his first race series as a young teenager.
As the owner of Broadside tattoo in Swansea, getting out on the bike after a long day in the studio is often much needed and very welcomed. After a 15 year hiatus from the bike scene, Scott is now seen on the daily with his Orbea Rise and has been racing Enduro for the last 4 years.
“If I wake up in a bad mood, then I’ll get out on my bike. Or after work if I’ve had a hard day, I’ll go for a ride in any weather. Just getting out and getting muddy – it’s the best!
Cycling brings a lot of freedom to anyone’s life I think; I would recommend it to anyone. It keeps you fit and healthy.
My favourite place to ride is definitely Masts. But I also regularly head to Cylne Woods or Kilvey Hill as that’s a really good spot. There’s also Smilog and Risca; all of South Wales has some incredible biking to be fair.”

Scott is often seen on the trails with his Orbea Rise right across the South Wales corridor and further afield to Europe. As the owner of a busy tattoo studio, riding gives him that much-needed space to recharge, connect with like minded friends and get out in nature on the daily. That’s why he rises.
“I race enduro mountain bikes, not really any downhill, just enduro. Racing is great because a lot of my friends do it. Sometimes I might not see them for ages because they live all over the world and it brings us together. I race mostly in the UK but a fair bit in Europe too. I’m hoping to get out to the States in the next couple of years before I get too old!”
